The celebration of Trenton’s outstanding musical community continues as the Capital Philharmonic and the Capital Singers combine forces to honor the choir’s 20th anniversary. Poulenc’s radiant Gloria reflects the contrasting sides of a composer famously described as both “monk and rogue,” blending deep spirituality with playful exuberance. The program culminates with Beethoven’s beloved Pastoral Symphony. As worsening deafness left him increasingly isolated, Beethoven found solace in nature, and the symphony captures the serenity, joy, and renewal he experienced in the countryside. Together, these works create an uplifting afternoon of choral splendor, orchestral color, and music rooted in gratitude, hope, and the restorative power of the natural world.
